You Can't Miss Anything Free

The final score Miami Heat 99 and Orlando Magic 98!

Was anyone watching the same game that we (Amber and I) were watching?!? It seemed as though Magic just handed that game over to the Heat. We were up by 10 and Williams was HOT! I mean he was poppin' threes like it was nothing!

Then Howard gets to the free throw line and misses his shots. Well he missed one then got the second, but then he just missed both of them! Now this was being to become a critical moment in the 4th quarter because the heat was starting to catch up. The Magic begin missing shots and the not being able to catch their rebound. Yet when they did catch the rebound, they just couldn't get the ball to go into the basketball. For a moment I thought I was back in high school watching my school play...the JV team at that. I guess at the end it was too much pressure for Mr. Williams because he missed both his free throws and Howard followed right behind and missed his as well.

I mean we tried to get the win back at the end, but I don't understand why the Magic seem to do that. Get ahead in the game and then just slack off, then start lossing and fighting to keep the win. All I know is that the Magic can't be missin' Free Throws especially when everyone feels they can make a three point shot and they not making it. Free Throws are universal, they go for every player out there.......please don't miss Free Throws....it really puts your team and the fans on edge!

We're Breaking Up

....."What are you all doing? Come ON!! Pass the ball, but CaTCH it!! Ewww"

That's all I seemed to hear when it came to the Jaguar's game against the Seahawks. The overall game was just sad to be totally honest. They could have done so much better, well at least that's how I feel and a few of my close friends. Some of the guys in the room were claiming they were breaking up with the Jaguars till this Sunday's game because going through that was too much. Watching your team lose takes a lot out of a fan especially when they are a serious fan...that means one that watches the entire game no matter how bad their team is doing nor how bad their team is losing. They are fully dedicated to their team and it hurts them when their team loses.

I'm tired of hearing people claim that they are fans, but in all actually they either bet on the opposing team, turn to the game only when their team is winning, and/or when they talk trash about their team after the game. Even when your team loses you should mainly stick to the facts, don't drag the team down in the mud because that makes you look fake.

So please people just stick to your team through and through!!! Where are my true fans out there!!! :) As for the Jaguars lets just see what happens this upcomming Sunday against the St. Louis Rams!

Don't Stop Smiling

Sweat dripping, punches being thrown, and bodies falling well a body falling; is all I witnessed Saturday night. Yes I'm talking about the Floyd Mayweather vs Juan Manuel Marquez boxing fight. The fight took place at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on September 19, 2009. Now I'm not really all that into seeing guys get their faces beat in but this fight was so much more than that. It was HIGHLY entertaining!

Mayweather was smirking at this guy and completely disrespecting him by letting his arms drop to his sides. I believe for about 3 rounds Mayweather kept his hands down exposing his face to Marquez and he STILL couldn't make contact! This comical side to the match made it even more entertaining especially since Mayweather wasn't trying to hide his face from Marquez. He would turn and get real close to him and just smile real big! In most rounds Mayweather had 22 thrown punches that made contact while poor Marquez had 3 or 4 punches. It just seemed like Marquez couldn't make contact at all, his punches were either deflected or just completely off target. In the end I will admit that Marquez had Mayweather's eye about to swell shut. Still Mayweather pulled off with an unanimous decision win.

I noticed that after the fight, people in the room with me were yelling that Mayweather needs to fight individuals in his own weight class. I'm not really into boxing in all that sense but I mean does two pounds really make that big of a deal. I mean I'm learning movies in my kickboxing class that helps me knock out someone twice or five times MY weight. I mean Marquez was throwing punches but Mayweather was just too quick for him. Hopefully I'll be able to watch another fight with Mayweather being in the correct weight class and compare that fight to this current one. Still, I'm thinking two pounds isn't that much of a difference, but hey you tell me.

Good Game

After reading some articles and talking the game over with some friends, the football game last Thursday was just that....a game. It wasn't anything extravagant about it and it did not for-fill a lot of people's expectations. Some believed that Vick should have done a bit more but I believe he did a very good job.

He seemed very aggressive as usual even though in the beginning he was a little tense walking onto the field, but that was due to nerves. Last Thursday was his first game in the in two years. My overall thought is that Vick did great and I"m sure he was happy to have been received so well by the fans.

This quote is from a site called philly.com from Vick himself.... "It's been a long journey for me and I just want to do it right this time around and make the most of my situation."

Looking Forward

Big game on Thursday!

Maybe not to you but I'm sure it is to Micheal Vick, who will be playing in the preseason game this Thursday with the Philadelphia Eagles against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The situation at hand; How well will Micheal Vick do in his first game? Of course we all know that he just got out of jail and his body surely is not in the shape that it use to be in, but I think that Vick can really show us something. I'm not expecting him to be at the level he use to be 2 years ago, but I do expect a level of Vick that I'm comfortable with.

Now many say that he should be allowed to play just so he can show everyone that he still has it and a little hiatus (18 months to be exact) is not going to drop his game down. That is where people are wrong because Vick can't be held to that level of endurance, strength, and stamina that he use to have back then. Vick has had a two year hold on him and its going to take some time to work that off. He is taking the needed steps to ensure that he doesn't look too rusty out there by going to conditioning before and after practice. So I have a lot of faith that he'll do just fine against the Jaguars on Thursday.

Intense Enough

After watching the intensity of the Finals, somewhere along the line I begin to think....How often do these players work out to enable them to play at such high levels for majority of the game?
Kobe Bryant, for example has one of the most serious workout plans around and he calls it, the "666 Workout Plan". He works out 6 hours a day, 6 days a week, and training 6 months out of the year. It includes:

  • 2 hours of running
  • 2 hours of basketball
  • 1 hour of Cardio (boxing, jump rope, etc)
  • 1 hour of Weights
Now my workout is NOT going to be that extreme. Basketball is Kobe's career, so it makes sense for him to ensure that his body is at tip top shape. My own personal goals is to basically get back into shape. I grow a passion for working out while I played basketball back in high school. My workout may include:
  • 30 min of cardio
  • 30 min of abs
  • 30 min of weights
  • 10 min cool down
I'll keep you updated between sports hightlights on my progress. If you have any suggestions that seem to work pretty well, comment and send me a link or simply describe the move. Today in the gym I learned a new ab move called "Six - Pack Twist."

Point That Finger

People always say that "There is no "I" in Team." Yet everyone is quick to blame and single out a player when things are going wrong. It seems to be the most logical answer to why a team didn't score as much points or when a team loses a game. Rather than placing the blame on the team for having an off game or even just congratulating the other team for being better, people find it better to stack the chips on one person's shoulders.

I even find myself at times blaming a single player, even though I know that it was the team as a whole which lead to the lost. I don't really understand why it happens that way but its a trend that really needs to stop or at least make the other players own up to their mistakes as well. Some players get off easy because they aren't in the limelight very often, so when they miss a shot or miss a pass, its blown off. Yet when the MVP missing a single shot or has what we like to call "an off game", people are so upset. We place so much pressure on these people to carry their entire team to a victory, but its the team's victory not a single person's.

So when Dwight Howard, of the Orlando Magic, had an off game, many people tried to blame the lost on Howard. That surely can't be the case because there were 4 other players on the court that surely did their part to contribute to the team lost. Yes it is called a team lost, not a Howard lost. When you think about it, people are always blaming one person. I usually hear "Dang, Kobe lost that one or Wow, Howard really got us that game." That's why we have the MVP of the team, yet they can't do it all by themselves. They need their other teammates as well to help pull the team as a whole to the top.

If you find yourself blaming the lost on Dwight Howard, remember the team name isn't Howard and the Orlando Magic....the name is The Orlando Magic.

Game 5: Orlando Magic vs LA Lakers

As I sit down eating my wings and munch down on my fries along with an assorted amount of friends. I can't help but pray that the Magic pull through on this game. My mind still wonders back to Game 4 which was taken from the Magic by the Lakers. Actually I can't even say taken because it seems as though the Magic just gave that one away. There is a saying in our house "You can't miss anything that is Free when it comes to basketball." Yet the Magic missed free throw after free throw!
I'm hoping that game 5 will bring great things, but as I watch I can't help but wonder.....what is going on with my team. I see Lewis popping those three's of his and I see Howard trying to hold things down in the Paint, but is that going to be enough. I need the rest of the team to really get into it. Only time will tell.......
